Keyword Stuffing is a component of Black Hat SEO methods that were very common in the past. In keyword stuffing, the keywords that a URL is supposed to be optimized for are placed in the text or metadata as often as possible. Keyword stuffing is an outdated black hat method that no longer works.

Today, search engines recognize the context of a text without a term having to appear frequently. Over-optimization now works against the site: the text reads poorly, visitors bounce, and the bounce rate is rising.

There is no fixed limit. A useful test is reading aloud: if a sentence exists only so that a keyword appears once more, it needs to be rewritten.
